A Redirection Mechanism for a Dynamic Load Balancing on Heterogeneous Distributed Replica Servers

摘要

With ever increasing user and rich media contents, the load of server is increasing while the quality of service is declining. To solve these problems, replication of information among multiple Web servers is necessary to support high request rates to popular Web sites. To spread the requests across multiple replica servers, the user based mechanism or load balancing based on a DNS have been proposed. However, these mechanisms can't reflect a performance of replica servers and a dynamic load state efficiently. As a result, this paper proposed a redirection mechanism, which provides a dynamic load balancing by delivering a client request considering current load and a performance of replica server on heterogeneous distributed replica servers. The experiment result shows that the proposed mechanism can disperse the client requests properly by the state of replica servers. It is expected that this proposed mechanism can manage efficiently the increasing rich media and a real-time media contents.
