TRAVELLING TO THE OLYMPICS

This paper highlights the use of the Olympics on the Sydney transport system. In particular, it deals with specifically Olympic orientated travel. It discusses the relevant magnitudes of the impacts of the Olympics and relates these to expectations before the Olympics. The paper concludes that whilst it was possible to get an indication as to possible changes in demand, the results, especially on the road system, greatly exceeded expectations. The paper also comments on the utilisation of Olympic transport and how this varied from expectation, as well as how it varied over the course of the Olympics.
