Thermodynamic analysis and conventional testing provide a fast and well understood rating of a combustion system's development status. As they identify system deficiencies against desired targets they also define the need for systematic techniques and procedures to support engine development. This paper presents a methodology to integrate unconventional stand-alone techniques into a diagnostic test bed system. It provides examples to demonstrate the requirements for and benefits of the systematic test bed system.
