摘要

The preparation of activated carbon from charcoal obtained from vacuum pyrolysis of teak sawdust was studied and thernresults are presented in this paper. The charcoal was obtained by vacuum pyrolysis (around 20 kPa) of teak sawdust atrntemperature of 500℃. The steam activation of the charcoal was carried out at temperature ranging from 750℃ to 900℃.rnThe effects of process variables such as temperature and time on the physical properties of activated carbon werernstudied. The activated carbon prepared from charcoal obtained by vacuum pyrolysis has higher surface area and porernvolume than that from charcoal obtained by pyrolysis at atmospheric condition. The BET surface area and pore volumernof activated carbon prepared from charcoal obtained by vacuum pyrolysis were 1150 m~2/g and 0.43 cm~3/g, respectively.
