A PRODUCT DESIGN PROCESS MODEL FOR COLLABORATIVE DESIGN

The product design process model is the basis for developing the product collaborative design under network environment. According to the characteristics of the product design, in this paper, a method is put forward which divides the product design process into three layers, that is, project layer, design task layer and design activity layer. And the formalized definitions of the product design process model, the decomposing principles of the product design process and the architecture of the product collaborative design system are presented. This method simplifies the activity network chart, makes the optimization and adjustment of the designing plan convenient and also makes the design process easier to control and change. The prototype system of the product collaborative design is discussed.
