The technique of identification of spin-wave modes in a rectangular yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films is presented. The experimental structure consisted of a YIG film placed on a microstrip transmission line has been studied. To analyze this electrodynamic problem CST Microwave Studio based on finite element method was used. While simulating this structure, frequency dependencies of insertion loss and return loss have been analyzed and compared to the ones obtained experimentally. Modes identification was performed by visualizing magnetic fields distributions at the resonant frequencies. Every mode was described by the numbers of half-wavelengths along corresponding direction.
