摘要

In the 2004 Niigataken Chuetsu earthquake, severe ground disasteroccurred at the Takamachi housing complex formed by the cut and fillmethod in Nagaoka City. The ground underwent significantdeformation in the fill region, and many houses were damaged not byearthquake motion but by ground deformation. Artificial fill slopessuffered considerable collapse at four sites in the area surrounding thehousing complex. This paper reports on the investigation of (1) thecorrelation between damage to houses and the ground conditions of thecut and fill area, and (2) the case of fill slope failure and a series of soiltests.
