Comparison of Adaptive Design and Parallel Control Design in Clinical Trials

In recent years, the use of adaptive design methods in clinical trials has attracted much attention from clinical investigators and biostatisticians. What are the advantages of adaptive design compared to parallel control design? And what differences between adaptive and traditional clinical trial design? Is there any connection between them? In this paper, Adaptive design and Parallel Control Design (Conventional Design) in clinical trials are compared with respect to scheme design, rules for distribution and adjustment, execution of process and hypothesis test. Fine properties of the adaptive design are described and promising perspective of it is forecasted.
