摘要

Laser welding of aluminum by superposition of apulsed Nd:YAG laser with a continuous wave diodelaser in order to improve the weldability of aluminumhas been investigated. The configuration allows toenhance the absorption of the Nd:YAG welding laserdue to preheating by the diode laser. Thus, theprocess efficiency as well as the weld qualityincreases. Further, the resulting time-temperaturecyclecan be influenced by the combination of twolaser beams, so that the formation of pores and crackscan be significantly suppressed. The results show,that it is possible to avoid weld defects, likesolidification cracks during pulsed laser beamwelding by superposing a continuous wave diodelaser.
