The N-i switching method provides optimization for the speed of sliding mode control systems with cascade-subordinate structure of arbitrary order N. It is characterized by the simplicity of the mathematical apparatus and is oriented to easily realizable structures of technical systems, in particular, electric drives. However, this synthesis method involves limiting all the canonical coordinates of the system in transient modes, that is, it reduces the control object to a chain of N integrating links. The present work demonstrates the efficiency of the N-i switching method to systems whose control objects have a structure different from the ideal cascade of integrators.
