For the sake of the existing traditional out-of-step detection criterions' defects caused by the lack of oscillation central location and direction of migration which cannot characterize the dynamic process of the oscillation center, on the basis of the wide-area measurement information of the migration of out-of-step oscillation center in the equivalent two-generators system, the paper proposes the dynamic analytic functions for multi-machine system, and then describes the trajectory of the out-of-step oscillation center in the migration of the tie line from the point of view of dynamic analysis, to study the dynamic migration mechanism of out-of-step oscillation center. The new England 39-node system simulation examples show that the method can effectively characterize the dynamic process of migration of oscillation center on the cut set, provide a new thought of out-of-step splitting criterion.
