Because of the complexity of the propagation path and high attenuation near the ground surface, during the process of micro-seismic monitoring, compared with the down well monitoring, the information obtained by the ground monitoring contains lower signal to noise ratio, fewer micro seismic events, and therefore poorer intepretation reliability. Amplitude stacking algorithm proposed in this paper does not need to search directly for the micro seismic events in the field data. It improves the signal to noise ratio by stacking data from all the geophones and uses reverse-time migration algorithm to locate the seismic source. Finally, we performed a forward modeling to obtain simulated 3D seismic data to prove the feasibility of the method. The seismic sources obtained by this algorithm match those defined in the synthetic model quite well. This paper provides a new algorithm for the location of micro seismic sources.
