Outer-rotor brushless DC motor is one of the main driving motors used in electric vehicle. As a nonlinear, multivariable, strongly coupled and time-varying system, conventional PID control with fixed parameters is difficult to achieve accurate control. Online parameter self-tuning fuzzy PID control strategy which can deal with complex driving conditions of electric vehicle is proposed. The control strategy can adjust PID parameters in real time according to the change of motor parameters to make the start and run of electric vehicle more smoothly. The experimental results show that fuzzy PID control can improve dynamic performance and control accuracy of the system and make it have good robustness.
