Scheduling in an Automobile Repair Shop

Scheduling has been extensively studied since its correct application and development is a decisive factor in an organization's success. Its application can be found in several areas of industry. In this work a real case of an automobile sector firm, more specifically the repair shop, is presented. First, a brief literature review is presented in order to gain some sensitivity on the scheduling thematic. Following with a description of the firm, detailing its repair shop, and the statistical analysis of the database provided by the firm. This analysis is intended to understand the firm's current situation, in particular, the characterization of repairs carried out during the period under analysis. This exploratory analysis serves as the basis for a mathematical model, that will be developed in a future work, in order to support the vehicles repairment scheduling decision.
