Recently, there is certain yield of plug seedling of tomato in China. Different substrate of the plug seedling has different effect on the growth of roots and entire seedlings. The substrate of the plug seedling is mainly mixes of the light substrate, such as peat, perlite and vermiculite. Substrate that has different ratio has different physical and chemical properties, which have a strong impact on the root development and seedling growth. In the study, ten treatments that have different ratio of substrate and two commercial plug substrate mixes which introduced from abroad had designed to test the influence to the plug seedling. The main physical and chemical properties such as EC, PH, and porosity are tested. The results indicate that treatment of 10% of peat, 80% of perlite and 10% of vermiculite and two commercial plug substrate mixes which introduced from abroad are better than others. Seedlings have good shape, the root growth well.
