摘要

A kind of automatic guidance system based on machine vision and GPS is introduced in this research. The system can collect the image from the camera mounted on the cab of the tractor, separate the crop from the background, and calculate a guidance angle. The system selects the row-crop as the interested crop, such as the winter wheat before jointing. The machine vision can guide the tractor in a straight line nearby and have a higher guidance precision. The GPS can offer a lower precision position but give a forward direction and play an important role in guidance when there is a turn. The integration of the techniques of the machine vision and GPS can preferable realize the function of navigation when the tractor is farming in the field. The algorithm is capable of accurately locating the crop in the image and providing a lateral position signal for the automatic guidance system.
