The problem of designing an adaptive antenna array as ancountermeasure to the multipath fading which occurs in land mobilencommunications is addressed. In order to approach the optimal weights ofnthe antenna elements on a real-time basis, the conjugate gradient methodn(CGM) is applied to some practical procedures which have been contrivednas realizable alternatives. The performance of the proposed technique isncompared to that of the conventional recursive least square (RLS;nKalman) algorithm in terms of bit-error-rate (BER) and requiredncomputation time
