Telemedical consultation in primary care: a case study in CSCW design

摘要

Telecommunications technologies are beginning to find their way into medical practice, to allow consultation between primary care practitioners, with their patients, and hospital-based medical experts. The purpose of these field studies was to determine how these communications facilities affected consultation. The results were analysed by describing the different activities carried out and then identifying effects of the communications technologies with particular activities. The implicatrions of this anlaysis for the design of appropriate technologies are expressed as a checklist of issues that can be used to match the available technology with particular situations of use. The a nalysis is presented as a case study in CSCW design.
