A design of a resistively loaded vee dipole (RLVD)fed by an integrated even-mode matched Marchand balun is proposed. The RLVD is designed for use in a pulsed radar application with a bandpass characteristic from 0.5-1.5 GHz. The Marchand balun creates the bandpass response when cascaded with the typical high-pass response of the RLVD. To achieve good matching between the balun and the RLVD, an even-mode matching circuit is developed and incorporated at the balanced ports of the balun. Experimental results show prototype return loss better than -10 dB from 400 MHz to 1.9 GHz and a significant decrease in low-frequency monostatic coupling.
