The article deals with man-made mineral formations as a source of impact on the environment and the source of mineral resources. Factors in technical formations have been identified that have a negative impact on the environment. Man-made formations have been classified according to the intensity of the environmental impact. The resources of technogenic formations of the Urals as sources of metallurgical raw materials are estimated. The fundamentals of technology for processing man-made waste are considered.
