Impedance and Stability Analysis of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator System for More Electric Aircraft

This paper focuses on the stability analysis of a high-voltage DC (HVDC) permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) system based on impedance analysis for more electric aircraft (MEA). The control scheme of the generator system based on PMSG is introduced first in this paper. Based on the control strategy, the output impedance model of the PMSG with an active rectifier (AF) and the input impendence of a typical constant power load (CPL) with LC filter are developed respectively. The impendence characteristic is utilized to analyze the system's stability with the consideration of flux-weakening control in high-speed operation. Moreover, the factors that affect system stability are analyzed respectively according to the impedance criterion. A novel stabilization method which can improve the stability margin based on linear compensation for DC voltage reference signal is proposed and it's verified by simulation results.
