Improvements on a new method to correct the humidity effect onLightning Impulse Testing

The Humidity Correction Factor forLightning Impulse Tests is carried out according to astandard international procedure. However, thisprocedure is not suitable to application in shortdistance air gaps typical of medium voltage apparatus.This paper deals with the present improvement of anew proposal to define a humidity correction factorsuitable to application in medium voltage apparatus.The developed procedure was based in testing resultson Sphere – sphere and Rod – Rod gaps. All data wasobtained at the High Voltage Laboratory of FederalUniversity of Itajubá using a 450kV – 1.25kJ impulsevoltage generator.
