DCP Midstream named 2016 Environmental Excellence Award winner

DCP Midstream (Denver) was recognized yesterday during the annual convention’s generalrnsession as winner of the GPA Midstream 2016 Environmental Excellence Award for projectrnachievements in energy conservation and environmental support.rnThe DCP winning project was an excess emission reduction effort at its Goldsmith Plant in thernPermian Basin.rnA Goldsmith team investigated emissions events and found the largest were related to thirdrnparty power reliability. Historically, when the plant encountered a power outage, the inletrnturbines shut down and the total inlet volume (up to 160 MMscfd) was flared as producersrnmanually shut in gas flowing to the plant, which could take up to 24 hours for some to do.rnAdditionally, the producers would need to manually re-establish gas flow after the power eventrnwas over.
