What Should be Extra Concerned with Evacuation Behavior for A/C/E: A Case Study on Arena in Taiwan

The key to escape dangerous situations is determined by evacuation behaviors; the evacuation estimate, considered into the constructional design, and its practical evacuation behaviors, however, unsatisfy the practical operating demonstration often. Arenas allow great capacities but extreme difficulty for evacuation. To comprehend the evacuation behavior identities of all the participants, the study takes the advantage of the official evacuation drill required for the arena operator before operation through the questionnaire and recording observation. Furthermore, the recording observation and note taking of the leaving after a fully-occupied opera (15,000 persons) proceed to comprehend differences between the leaving situation and the simulation software called SIMULEX. The study says that when treating on both the physical and the mental, all the existed design, simulation, and evacuation management behaviors will show a fall to practical evacuation behavior, which without well management will directly endanger the evacuation. As a result, the study, based upon the result of investigation and analysis, estimates improvement strategy and provides for the architect and operator for designing and management as references.
