The increasing use of wireless technology has led to the growth of LTE-Advanced networks. Accordingly, the handover procedure becomes more delicate especially over high mobility speed, and for real time services. In this paper, we consider a highway handover scenario, wherein, a congested target node, in terms of resource blocks (RB), leads to a packet loss case. To optimize resource allocation during handover decisions, we present a Network Coding Approach (NCA) based on Coordinated Multiple Point transmission (CoMP). We demonstrate, with results, that NCA solution can improve Quality of Service (QoS), particularly, for real time traffic. In fact, our approach minimizes the number of used RBs in target node during the handover decision. So that, more resources are spared for prospective congested case.
