The discovery of ancient dam remains near Pan Long Cheng in Shang Dynasty with geophysical techniques

摘要

The ancient Pan Long Cheng remains, with a long history of 3000 years, located near the suburbs of Wuhan, is the only one completely preserved place of Shang dynasty at Yangtze River valley. This paper introduces the background of Pan Long Cheng and conditions of archaeological work firstly used geophysical explorations within it for the first time in 1997, also, mainly discusses the detective operation by geophysical techniques and inferring process to the ancient dam never discovered. Again, it proves that geophysical detecting techniques are useful and necessary in archaeological work in fields.
