Artificially commutated converters (ACCs) have been analysed innthe past to understand their potential application to HVDC transmissionnsystems. In this paper, the previously reported steady state ACCnanalysis is extended to cover the overlap range up to 120° .nComparison of ACC with naturally commutated converters is drawn for thenperformance characteristics involving reactive power, dv/dt, powernconverter impedances and harmonics in detail which have not beennreported earlier in literature to the best of the knowledge of thenauthors
