Bulk samples of intermetallics, obtained by explosive compaction

Bulk samples of TiAl and NiAl are obtained by explosive consolidation of powders, made by gas atomisation and by mechanical alloying. Both cold and hot explosive pressing is applied at room and elevated temperatures. For the first time is was possible to obtain high strength bulk samples just only by explosive compaction without subsequent heat treatment.
