Conditional Priority at Controlled Intersections to Improve Public Transport Punctuality

The market share of public transport depends highly on the travel time ratio to private transport. The public transport travel time includes among other elements waiting times at stops and transfer points, both of which depend on schedule adherence. A method has been developed to reduce punctuality deviations by driver action (delay if early) and by giving conditional priority for public transport vehicles at controlled intersections.
