Development of a test rig system for a new generation of aerostatic bearings

This paper discusses the use of Air Bearings for machining at Nano-Technology applications and tolerances. The development of a simple test rig and a novel "Diaphragm Control valve" is also discussed which incorporates a high speed air bearing. This project is at an early stage as yet but an outline of the expected progress and outcomes is presented.
