This study examined the use of probabilistic dose analysis in nuclear power plant decommissioning. Thernfocus was on the demonstration of regulatory compliance for surface soil contaminations using thernRESRAD 6.0 code. Both the screening and site-specific applications were examined. Example analysesrnshowed the effectiveness of probabilistic dose analysis in reducing the conservatism in the derivation ofrnDCGL. Key parameters in probabilistic dose analysis for site-specific applications were identified from arnprobabilistic sensitivity analysis. Example analyses using the soil-to-plant transfer factor for 137Cs and 90Srrndemonstrated the benefit of a site-specific approach in relaxing DCGL. Use of the mean of the peak dosernversus the peak of the mean dose from probabilistic dose analysis for the demonstration of regulatoryrncompliance was also examined.
