摘要

This paper presents the work carried out to build a methodology using FE calculation for the design of synchroniser hubs. An extensive work has been done for material characterisation, both static and fatigue, and FE modelling of hub fatigue solicitation in torsion. A test campaign was performed on top of that to validate the whole process. Results showed the importance of a proper material characterisation as it is a very influencing factor in the fatigue life predictions. The fatigue model together with FE computation give satisfying results concerning the localisation of crack initiation zone and the predictions are fairly close to torsion test results though they appear to be slightly conservative.
