Sintered steel impact bars based on 1.5%Mo prealloy steel powder were produced with varying carbon content, compacting pressure, and sintering temperature, and in part quenched and tempered. Instrumented Charpy impact testing showed that there is a clearly positive correlation between dynamic maximum and yield stress and the displacement, respectively, for the effect of density and sintering intensity but a negative correlation for the effect of heat treatment while the effect of the carbon content is noticeable for sintered materials but hardly for heat treated ones. Tempering in part changes the shape of the F-s graphs without too much effect on the impact energy.
