Development of a Virtual 3D Simulator to Evaluate Remote Operations in PRIDE

Pyro-processing, one way to recycle spent fuels, has been studied at Korea atomic energy research institute. A new facility was constructed in its campus for engineering scale experiment of Pyro-processing. The facility was named as PRIDE (PyRoprocessing Integrated inactive Demonstration facility). As like the name shows, the radioactivity is not serious because simfuel will be used for experiment. However, the argon environment of the experiment does not allow a human operator to be accessed. All the process are supposed to be done by remote operation, as the same as a regular hot cell does. Large Argon cell (40.3m × 4.8m × 6.4) is located in the second floor in PRIDE, and various remote handling systems were installed in the cell. When process equipment in the cell is developed, how to operate and maintenance it is one important design requirement to be considered.
