Hydrotropic polymer micelles consisting of ahydrophilic PEG shell and a hydrotrope-rich corewere designed to solubilize paclitaxel. Thesolubilization of paclitaxel is based on a synergisticeffect of the unique micelle characteristics andhydrotropic activity. The block copolymersself-assembled to form micelles with a size of30~50 nm. Paclitaxel was loaded into the polymermicelles by the dialysis method. The loadingamount was varied depending on the loadingconditions, including the type of solvent, blockcomposition, and initial feed ratio of the polymerand the drug. Hydrotropic micelles demonstratednot only higher loading capacity but also enhancedphysical stability in aqueous media.
