摘要

This paper presents a proposed mathematical method toassess the future expansion of the generation andtransmission facilities under the new market structure.In this regard, the analysis is carried out first torecognize the size, reliability and the most attractivelocations of the generation technology within thenetwork. The value of the resource location is optimizedbased on its impacts on losses and on potential loading,voltage problems in the network as well as on itseconomic signal to the generation agents to enhancetheir benefits and the profitability of their projects. Thetransmission requirements that are needed toaccommodate the future generation are optimized. Aprobabilistic reliability issue, based on Monte Carlomethod, is then presented to assess the impact of thesegeneration facilities on the overall capability of thetransmission network. A practical application of a casestudy for Saudi Electricity Company (Western Region)is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of thedeveloped prototype system.
