PEBim: From Building Information Modeling to Regulatory Building Energy Assessment

Context. Currently, to meet regional regulations on energy, an architect must assess his project using the PEB software. For this, he must laboriously capture all the walls belonging to the building's envelope and their properties. He can also model the thermal volumes in the integrated 3D modeler, the quantity survey is then generated automatically and the user is then able to assign materials to the walls. To avoid the effort of re-capturing and remodeling, we propose PEBim, a tool for extracting a thermal model from a digital model in IFC format (produced with any BIM software) in order to directly feed the Belgian building energy efficiency regulations software PEB.
