Cloud Ingest of Live Video – An open approach to RIST, SRT and retransmission protocols

As cloud production becomes an integral part ofbroadcasters’ live workflows, the corresponding cloudinfrastructure becomes an integral part of the mediatransport network. Cloud infrastructure providers, oftenpublic in nature, are accessible either through the publicInternet or through leased lines. In both these cases,broadcasters are challenged with the quality of the transportoften not being sufficient for high-end broadcastapplications. While the established approach to overcomethis challenge is retransmission technology, there is today aplethora of options to choose from. This paper aims todiscuss the pros and cons of these different options and whytoday there is no silver bullet solution.
