The effect of arbuscular mycorrhiza and heavy metal on content of vitamin C was investigated in tomato. Seeds of tomato were germinated on sand in strile condition. Seedling were inoculated with a AMF (Glomuse versiforme or GV) or left non inoculated (G0) as control in a pasteurized sand. Three Cd levels (0.2, 1, 5mg/kg) (Cdl, Cd2, Cd3 respectively) as CdNO and Three Plevels (5, 20, 40mg/kg) (P1, P2, P3 respectively) as KHPO were applied to the sand on transplanting (sand culture). Based on obtained results, Vitamin C content of fruit was affected by P and Cd levels in both mycorrhizal and non mycorrhizal plants. The P levels and VA mycorrhiza caused significant increase on vitamin C content of fruit and Cd levels caused significant decrease on vitamin C content of fruit. Fruit P content was increased by using of P levels and was significant in mycorrhizal more than in non mycorrhizal plantsat the same levels of P (P<0.01). Root colonization percent was positively affected by soil P and Cd levels, decreased by using of Cd and increased by using of P, but there was not significant difference between P2 and P3. Fruit Cd content was decreased in mycorrhiza more than in non mycorrhizal plants at the same levels of Cd, decreased by using of P levels, hut P2 and P3 did not have significant difference and increased by using of Cd levels. Considering the results, we can use VA mycorrhiza in investigated place with Cd to reduce toxicity of them in tomato. This experiment showed that Glomus versi form decreased ahsorbtion of Cd.
