摘要

The transition to a low carbon economy in the UK provides enormous challenges and opportunities. In terms of physical infrastructure, which ever scenario plays out will lead to a substantial increase in the building of facilities to generate renewable energy and then to transmit it in innovative and efficient ways. Existing estate - buildings, roads and transport systems will need to be retrofitted to adapt to this new world of energy. New forms of partnering between the private and public sectors, and between different professions and disciplines will be required. And with signs that the UK is falling behind the US and China in this area, the issues take on a new urgency. This talk explores the background to the transition from an accountancy body's perspective, before a detailed case study is offered showing how the UK's Crown Estates have risen to the challenge.
