摘要

Fold is an important kind of geological structure, and an effective quantitative analysis means is needed .The methods of describing the complex degree of coal seam folds, which include slit-island method, section line method, and axes line method, were given for the first time. The fractal features of the fold section lines, the distribution of fold axes lines and the fold landform were studied. It is established that the space distribution of folds obeys fractal law. It gives a new method of studying fold structures. The relationship between fold fractal features and gas bursts was discussed by means of studying two mining districts of certain mine field. It gives a new way to coal and gas burst prediction.
