摘要

This paper reports a new synthesis method for both carbon and boron nitride nanotubes. The mechano-thermal method consists of high-energy mechanical milling and thermal annealing processes. Nanotubes with different tubular structures and sizes have been produced. Advantages of this new method include large quantity production in the order of kilograms, low production costs and controllable process. The metal catalysis and new solid-state formation mechanisms involved are discussed.
