摘要

The former Nandan city hall building exhibited asatisfactory 60 years of service. Shaken by big scaleearthquakes and exposed to corrosive environment, thisbuilding showed no serious damage in the in-situ inspection.Some serious signs of corrosion at anchorages were noticed.Chloride content was below the threshold limits andcarbonation in PC beams was insignificant. The largecarbonation depth at some concrete core samples of thecolumns, walls, and RC beams implied the initiation ofcorrosion of embedded steel bars.
