摘要

In this paper, a passive nondestructive evaluation method based on the measurement of magnetic field due to the damage-induced magnetization is proposed and its detectability is investigated through an experiment using the flux-gate magnetic sensors and the austenitic stainless steel of SUS304 type. The experimental results show that the plastic or fatigue damages are possibly to be detected from the measured natural magnetic field signal, which verified the feasibility of the proposed method for NDT of mechanical damages.
