The Plant Computer System (PCS) in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) monitorsrnvarious plant parameters, provides alarms on abnormal situations, archives processed datarnfor retrieval, and performs complicated calculations for operation. Plant Monitoring andrnAnnunciator System (PMAS) has been developed through the Korea Standard NuclearrnPower Plant (KSNP) improvement project by integrating the Plant Computer Systemrn(PCS), Plant Data Acquisition System (PDAS) and Plant Annunciator System (PAS).rnThe PMAS integration was achieved to resolve the problems such as informationrninconsistency between PCS and PAS, unnecessary redundant devices and signals, andrninefficiency in design, operation, and maintenance. The PMAS technology was appliedrnto the replacement project of the PCS for Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 (hereafter,rnKori Unit 2) with some modifications of its system structure to meet customerrnrequirements and has been evaluated to be a successful monitoring platform. This paperrnaddresses the design concept and functional characteristics of the PMAS and itsrnapplication.
