Since the 1970s the UK has lagged behind in the introduction of alternative fuelled vehicles while countries such as the USA, Japan, and even our close neighbours such as the Netherlands, Germany and France where gas powered vehicles are now commonplace. During the last five years though, the UK has been playing catch up, to achieve this the Government has put together policies to encourage the uptake of clean fuels through fuel duty, financial incentives and raising awareness.
