Nanotechnology is an exciting and rapidly evolving new field that deals with the design ofrnextremely small structures having critical length dimensions on the order of only a few nanome-ters.rnOne particular subfield of nanotechnology deals with nanostructured materials in which thisrncritical dimension is the crystal size.rnThis paper focuses on nanostructured materials produced by electrodeposition methodsrnwhich, over the past decade, have already been advanced from the research laboratory to an eco-nomicallyrnviable nanomaterials technology. The overall objectives of this paper are to providernanswers to the questions, “what nanotechnology means in the context of metalfinishing?” andrn“what opportunities exist for electroplating industries?”
