EPA has undertaken an ampitious taks in the past two years: Laying the groundwork for setting technology-based standards for a large and diverse range of industry sectors whose processes involve the application of non-metallic coatings. The Agency is still in the early stages of regulatory development, and has made significant progress over the past year in understanding the coating industry's profile. MOre than a half-dozen major industry sectors are likely targets for regulation under the rule, which could cover both captive and jobshops that utilize a range of distinct coating systems. This session will review the status of the MACT standard-setting effort and regulatory approaches under consideration by EPA.
