EPA has undertaken an ambitious task in the pasttwo years: Laying the groundwork for setting technology-basedstandards for a large and diverse range of industry sectors whoseprocesses involve the application of non-metallic coatings. TheAgency is still in the early stages of regulatory development,and has made significant progress over the past year inunderstanding the coating industry's profile. More than a half-dozen major industry sectors are likely targets for regulationunder the rule, which could cover both captive and jobshops thatutilize a range of distinct coating systems. This session willreview the status of the MACT standard-setting effort andregulatory approaches under consideration by EPA.
