Abstract: isotopes can be used as alternatives toradioisotopes or fluorescent DNA labels. After thelabeled DNA has been banded on electrophoresis gels thestable isotopes may be located by scanning the gel withresonance ionization spectroscopy. Methods forsynthesizing appropriate labels and for detectingisotopes of iron and tin directly on polyacrylamidegels are described.!13
